High schools receive their checks for 2026 Flag Day

High schools that entertained and prepared floats for the 2026 Flag Day celebration have received their checks from ASG.

The schools that entertained Manu’a, Faga’itua, Samoana and Leone high dchools received checks of $15,000 while Nu’uuli Vocational Technical High School and Tafuna High School which prepared floats were given checks of $10,000.

Director of Education Maeufau Dr Mary Taufetee presented the checks to principals of the high schools at DOE’s main office on Tuesday. The Director acknowledged the sacrifices made by the students and staff in preparing their entertainment and floats for Flag Day and thanked them for a job well done. She said their representation was a proud moment for the Department of Education.

The Director also thanked Governor Pulaali’i Nikolao Pula and Lt Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr for giving the schools the opportunity to make a contribution to the commemoration of the 126th Flag Day.

Maefau explained that it’s up to each school how to spend their money. Two principals that KHJ News talked with said they will do something for the students and use some of the funds on school projects.
