On Tuesday, the Acting Chairman of the Board of Higher Education, Uta Dr. Laloulu Tagoilelagi, informed staff, faculty, and students of the American Samoa Community College that the board has decided to extend President Dr. Rosevonne Maikiwi-Pato’s contract for an additional few months.
He said in a memo that the position of President will be advertised during this period and a new president would be named before the end of the extension.
KHJ News understands that the Board had initially voted to extend Dr. Pato’s contract to February 2; however, she submitted a request for a six-month extension to June 30. The memo from the acting chairman did not specify the exact length of the contract extension.
The Board of Higher Education has the sole authority in the selection of the ASCC President, and the position is not subject to Fono confirmation.
