With ASG auctioning off the vehicles from China later this month, some have asked what will happen to the vehicles that were released before the discovery that the vehicles did not meet federal and local regulations.

Chief of Customs Iuliano Falaniko said the AG’s Office has notified the Office of Motor Vehicles not to renew registration of these vehicles.

He said that according to their records, eight such vehicles had been released before the decision to impound all vehicles imported directly from China.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Customs says there‘s been a lot of interest, both from local parties and from Samoa, in the bid auction for the 47 vehicles in customs’ custody.
