The Samoa Supreme Court has lifted bail conditions for Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi Party chairman Laauli Leuatea Schmidt, which were imposed by the District Court in February this year.
TV1 Samoa reports the Supreme Court ordered the return of Laauli’s travel documents and ended his requirement to sign in at the police station every Friday.
La’auli told media he was relieved that the restrictions have been lifted so he can carry out his duties.
The charges against Laauli are based on complaints by two police officers and an Australian-based Samoan regarding statements he made on a television program in Samoa.
The matter will be heard in Court next year.
