Faleolo International Airport received a significant upgrade in its security infrastructure with the handover of $4 million tālā worth of security equipment from the New Zealand Government.

The donation includes advanced security equipment to bolster the screening and detection capabilities at the airport.

New Zealand High Commissioner Si’alei Van Toor made the presentation Thursday to Prime Minister Fiame Naomi at a ceremony at Faleolo Airport.

In addition to the equipment donation, New Zealand has committed to providing service and maintenance support for the next three years.

This support is particularly timely as Samoa prepares to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in less than three months.
