McDonalds American Samoa had planned to reopen for business at 5 this morning. However, their plans did not pan out.

An announcement from the company early this morning said, “Please be advised that our opening is delayed until we have our final inspection by the Department of Health.” The DoH inspection is being carried out this morning.

The fast food restaurant was closed for three weeks to complete the final stage of a major renovation and expansion.

The project—which took 6 months to complete—has extended the dining area, provides a private conference room, digital menu boards, IT hardware upgrades for all point of sale stations, larger kitchen, new industrial kitchen equipment, central AC and added more parking spaces.

UPDATE: McDonald’s passed its inspection and re-opened before 9am.
