Sele Leota of American Samoa has been appointed as senior creative producer of Entropico, the Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles-based studio that last year hatched Netflix’s “ONEFOUR: Against All Odds.”
Sele, the son of the late Sherry Sele and Prince Leota, joins the team after collaborating with Entropico for nearly a year.
Sele, who attended Faasao Marist High School studied at the Brooks Institute of Photography, in Ventura California.
Variety reports that Leota boasts a rich background in unscripted television and audio storytelling, including a five-year stint as storyteller and producer on E! Television’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
Previous roles at Bunim-Murray Productions saw him contributing to series such as MTV’s “The Real World,” and Lifetime Television Network’s “Project Runway.”
He also supervised post-production of Netflix’s “Coming Out Colton” at 3/Ball Jeff Jenkins Productions.
Sele also directed a drag adventure story for YouTube Marketing and produced a podcast, titled Being Trans.
Sele, 36, said he’s excited for a new chapter and opportunities to create “unique and interesting work.”
He’s always wanted to be in the entertainment industry and feels that this was influenced by the environment he grew up in.
“I think Samoa’s love of entertainment (Fa’afiafiaga, etc) and rich oral traditions definitely played a role in nurturing that love of storytelling for me early on. I’ve done a lot of queer drag and trans projects in recent years that of course feels close to my heart because of Samoa’s own lively Fa’afafine community,” he told KHJ News.
