Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is honoring American Samoa’s police in recognition of National Police Week (May 12-18), and National Peace Officers Memorial Day (observed May 15 every year).

“Thank you to our law enforcement officers for their readiness to respond in time of need,” said Congresswoman Aumua Amata.

“Across the country, and here in American Samoa, officers strive to follow their purpose to ‘protect and serve.’ We depend on them to contribute to the peace, safety, security and stability of our communities—often just by knowing they are around or a phone call away. We support them in their work responding to domestic violence and drug crimes for a better community. It’s an important mission.”

Peace Officers Memorial Day is especially dedicated to the memory of those honored departed, who died bravely carrying out their duties.

“We honor their sacrifice, and pray their families can remember them full of life in happy times.

“God bless all our officers, and may you always dedicate yourselves to the ideals that first led you to take on this responsibility.”
