Vailoa wins Village Beautification Competition

Vailoa village has won the Village Beautification competition. The winners were announced at the awards presentation for Flag Day, Wednesday afternoon. Vailoa’s total points was 354 out of 360 and the village was awarded the top prize money of $10,000.

Aua village took second place with total points of 339. The second prize was $5,000.

Master of Ceremony Deputy Secretary of Samoan Affairs Tauese Vaa Sunia said that the rest of the 56 villages that competed will receive checks of $2,000.

The Village Beautification Competition was organized by the Island Wide Clean Up Committee and the Office of Samoan Affairs.

Cash prizes for the Men’s and Women’s cricket competition were also awarded.

In addition, each of the three groups that entertained for Flag Day, Manu’a, Masefau and Leone were presented checks of $30,000 each.
