Mr. Chae Ung Um, President and CEO of StarKist Co., owners of StarKist Samoa, are arriving tonight to spend time with the StarKist Samoa team in celebration of the cannery’s 60th anniversary.
Mr. Um will attend the StarKist Samoa Appreciation Dinner Friday night at the Lee Auditorium for government, business and community representatives. The Prime Minister of Samoa has also been sent an invitation.
The StarKist President and CEO will also be at the Employee Fun Day at the Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
This will be Mr. Um’s second visit to the territory since being appointed President and CEO. He will be accompanied by Mr. Young Choi, Vice President Finance, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer. They will be here for one week.
This morning, StarKist Samoa is presenting checks of proceeds raised at their 60th anniversary golf tournament, held a week ago. StarKist official, Tufuga Faafoi Palepua said they raised about $25,000 and all proceeds will go to their three chosen charities: Hope House, American Samoa Community Cancer Coalition and American Samoa Junior Golf Program.
