The Department of Port Administration has stopped construction of an extension to the restaurant at the airport.

The extension has been going on for nearly two months but, according to airport sources, they have not seen any paperwork with the scope of work or specifications of the job.

A senior Port Administration official confirmed that the contractor, Paramount Builders, was given the top work notice last Friday.

The notice to Paramount Builders said, “All operations on the above-mentioned project are to be suspended effective on May 5, 2023. The project is hereby suspended until the following actions have been completed: 1. Submission of Final Plan 2. Submission of Cost Proposal 3. Submission of Project Schedule.”

The stop work notice has the signatures of senior engineer Mika Aga and Acting Director of Port Administration Tumua Matu’u.

The airport restaurant hasn’t been used since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
