
A teacher at Tafufna High School, Christian Wright Saalea, was crowned Saturday as the new Miss SOFIAS (Sosaiate a Faafafine i Amerika Samoa). The 32-year-old holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is an alumna of Samoana High School, Class of 2008.
Her villages are listed as Leusuoalii, Luatuanuu and Falealupo in Samoa, and she’s a resident of Matuu and Faganeanea.
For her pageant interview, her question was how, as a faafafine, she can aid the fight against drugs. Here’s part of Christian’s answer.
