A report on the Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigation into drugs that were found in a police vehicle, that had been serviced at ASCO motors, is with the Attorney General’s Office.
The report was submitted a few weeks ago.
On March 1st, photos of 10 small baggies of what looked like crystal methamphetamine and a black Toyota Tacoma truck with the license plate DPS-39 were circulated on Facebook. The DPS truck, which is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, had been at ASCO for servicing the day before.
Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety, Terry Letuli said, at the time, when the truck was picked up in the afternoon of the day it was taken in for servicing, ASCO never informed police of any contraband found in the vehicle.
It was only after the photos appeared on social media that police were aware of the discovery. Employees of ASCO’s auto shop were taken in for questioning and later released.
The decision on whether a person, or persons, will be charged in connection with the case is up to the Attorney General’s Office.
