Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day and all parishes of the Catholic Church will be cleaning up their churches, homes and villages to mark the day.

The Diocesan-wide Clean Up Day falls in line with the recent launching of Laudato Si, an encyclical by Pope Francis on the need to take care of our common home, Mother Earth.

It has been left up to each parish to organize their own clean up efforts across Tutuila.

Last month, schools of the Diocese gathered at the church headquarters at Fatuoaiga for the launching of Laudato Si—in which the schools competed in a float competition, with an environmental theme and performed songs, poems and impromptu speeches with a message of protecting the air, land and sea.
