The Flag Day Farm Fair, organized by the Department of Agriculture, opens at the Veterans Memorial Stadium at 8 this morning.
As of yesterday, 140 farmers and gardeners had signed up, and last night they were setting up their stalls around the east side of the stadium. A spokesman for Agriculture said fruits, vegetables, crops, some livestock and plants, will be on display and also sold.
Today is also when food vendors will be at the stadium and, according to the list of vendors, there’ll be Samoan food and popular dishes from other countries. The vendors will be there from morning to night until the Flag Day Arts Festival Program, which begins tonight, ends on Saturday.
For the Performing Arts Festival, 15 entertaining groups have been selected for the three night event. The program begins at 6pm.
The entertainers who were selected from auditions by the Council on Arts, Culture and Humanities, are a mix of schools, church youth, sports teams and dance groups.
An opening service is set for this evening with remarks by Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga, and prayers by Rev. Iese Faavaoga of the CCCAS Leone.
Entertaining tonight are Tama Fanau a Leone, Island Pearl, South Pacific Academy, New Boys and Leloaloa Methodist Youth.
