The cabinet meeting today focused on the 2023 Flag Day celebration, which is the first full scale celebration for the Lemanu/Talauega administration since taking office.
The COVID pandemic resulted in basically a flag raising ceremony to commemorate the territory’s birthday the last two years.
At today’s cabinet meeting, Papalii Laulii Alofa—owner of Paramount Builders—and his son, handed a check of $100,000 to Lt. Governor Talauega Eleasalo Ale and Secretary of Samoan Affairs Mauga Tasi Asuega, co-chairs of the Flag Day Committee, to help with the celebration costs.
Papalii thanked the Governor, Lt. Governor and Mauga, for asking their “small company” for assistance for the Flag Day celebration.
“This is our company’s small way of helping,” said Papalii.
Lt. Governor Talauega spoke on behalf of the Governor, Mauga, and the Flag Day Committee to express appreciation to Papalii, Paramount and Manumalo Academy, for the generous donation.
He also thanked all businesses that have answered their call for assistance to make Flag Day a memorable and successful event.
The Lt. Governor also challenged other businesses to follow Paramount’s example.
He mentioned that about 50 companies have made donations for Flag Day.
