Yesterday, we reported on the Department of Health (DOH) leasing space in a yet to be completed commercial building in the Tafuna Industrial Park across from the Veterinary Clinic.

Our research shows that the building is owned by Star Construction, whose business activities are listed as construction and commercial building leasing. It is a partnership between Fetui Fetu, the Vice Speaker and Manu’a District # 1 representative and Elijah Leasau.

Health Director Motusa Tuileama Nua said that DOH is taking up 5 of the 8 units in the building, which is 90% completed. He said, the department is growing with several new federally funded programs including a $44 million ARPA- funded initiative. He said, the administration office for the Veterinarian Clinic has already moved into the building.

Some have questioned why a government entity has been allowed to use the facility even though it hasn’t been issued a certificate of occupancy. This is not the first time this has happened.

Other commercial buildings that DOH is occupying include the Paramount Builders complex in Fagaima, the Haleck building—which used to be the Argosy campus and the Galeai building across from Cost-U-Less, where Cecelia’s Restaurant is located.
