Passengers off the cruise ship, “Celebrity Eclipse,” who set foot on land will have to fill out a health declaration.

The cruise ship docked at the Fagatogo wharf around 6am with more than 3,000 passengers and crew.

Director of Health, Motusa Tuileama Nua, says that all persons arriving in the territory are required to fill out health declarations, preferably online and, if not, by paper form upon arrival—and travelers on cruise ships are no exception.

Some ASG agencies involved in the cruise ship arrival seemed to think this was a new requirement but the Health Director said, this requirement has been publicized for a while…that all those entering the territory have to fill a health declaration.

The deadline for passengers of the cruise ship to fill their health declarations online was 4pm yesterday, and the Director did not have the number of passengers who complied. All others who disembark and come on shore will have to fill a paper form.

Motusa says, a medical team has been stationed at the main dock to help with this.

The Celebrty Eclipse is the first liner to call into port in more than two years, after the measles outbreak and COVID pandemic. It is set to depart at 6pm today.

According to the American Samoa Visitors Bureau, 21 cruise ships are to stop over in the port of Pago Pago, this year.
