Off-island company begins work on solar energy project

Malosi Limited Liability Company (LLC) is an independent Power Producer that’s building a 20 Megawatt solar photovoltaic project for the American Samoa Power Authority.

Its owner, and leading partner, is Mr. Daniel Myung—the US businessman of South Korean ancestry who gave a presentation at the cabinet meeting on Monday. He was also on the delegation of investors and business owners from the US and South Kore,a who visited the territory in late November.

Executive Director of ASPA, Wallon Young, said that Mr. Myung has a team here doing the initial work for the 20MW Solar PV project.

The site for the 20MW Solar PV Project is Tuanaitau land (Vaiala) in Pavaiai.

Four other sites were identified and will be considered, as more PV is added, said Yong.

Malosi LLC is owned by 3 investors: Daniel Myung, Michael Stoddard and Walter Cuculic, all US citizens.  No local partners are needed for Limited Liability Companies.

Two of the three investors own companies in the US as follows:

  • Daniel Myung – Norwegian Energy Solutions & Services, Inc. (NESS)
  • Michael Stoddard – TSI Group LLC
  • Walter Cuculic – VP of 34th Bank

Mr. Myung’s other companies provide consultancy and other services in the US.
