As of December 28th, the Department of Commerce (DOC) had recorded 1,636 business license renewals for the calendar year 2023.
Alex Zodiacal, who heads the Business Division of DOC said, that’s about 45% of the
total number of licenses issued in calendar year 2022.
December 31st is the last day of the 2022 business licenses; and it’s the usual practice for DOC to begin charging a penalty fee for every day that the license is expired, and the business is operating.
Each year, DOC and other agencies involved in the issuance of business licenses always experience a surge of people coming in to renew their licenses—this year is no exception.
