
Samoa has appointed a former teacher of Marist Brothers High School and Leone High School as its new CEO of the Ministry of Education.
He is Aeau Christopher Hazelman who taught at Marist Brothers High School in 2000, before moving to Leone High School, where he taught social studies for two years. He was Director of Catholic Education in Samoa for 13 years before being appointed as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the National University of Samoa, from 2014 to 2021.
Aeau obtained his BA in Geography and Sociology from the University of the South Pacific and an MA in Education also from USP.

Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma
His appointment as CEO of Education was announced yesterday, along with the new CEO of the Ministry of Health, Professor Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma. Aiono is currently Vice Chancellor of the National University of Samoa.
Aiono holds a PHd in Building Health Research and Capacity of Clinicians from the University of Auckland complemented with an MBA in Health Management and Planning from Keele University, United Kingdom. He also graduated from the University of Auckland with a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has headed the National University of Samoa since 1987.
Both Aeau and Aiono are graduates of St. Joseph’s College, Lotopa, and their appointments are for three years.
