The President of Rugby League Samoa, Tagaloa Fa’afouina Su’a, says a decision has not yet been made about bringing the Rugby League World Cup heroes, Toa Samoa, home.
Speaking to KHJ News in Apia this afternoon, Tagaloa said they would love to bring the grand final runners-up home “but it all depends on financing”.
He said they still have to sit down with government to discuss the matter.
“We’ve all just come back so we haven’t had time to discuss this with government,” he said.
He added this may happen next week and then a decision would be made.
Deputy Prime Minister Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio, who watched Toa Samoa beat England in the semi-final before going down in the grand final against World Champions Australia, told media upon his return that Cabinet had yet to discuss the matter of bringing the team home to meet supporters.
He said players he spoke to after the grand final all indicated they wanted to come but the government had still to make a decision.
