Carl’s Jr. was temporarily closed after employees were overcome by a yet unknown cause this afternoon. The restaurant has now reopened, after an “all clear” from health authorities.

Eight employees were rushed to the hospital after they began fainting.

Phil Love of Carl’s Jr. said, the source of the problem is not known. While posts on social media said it was ammonia, Love said that they are trying to determine the source.

One customer who posted a video of employees lying on the floor and gasping for air said, they were standing in line to order when they saw some of the employees fainting.

The restaurant closed temporarily and health authorities asked members of the public to stay away, while the threat is removed.

Update: As of 5:30pm, authorities have given an “all clear” to re-enter the building. Teams entered the area to check for ammonia, LP gas, CO2 and carbon monoxide build up and found none.

Carls Jr. Manager Phil Love said, “We haven’t determined the cause of the problem. So, we have decided to stay closed for the rest of the day. We currently plan to reopen tomorrow morning, regular hours.” Love said that announcements will be made if there were any changes to the plan.
