TCF will remain at Tafuna if no new site is secured

The Territorial Correctional Facility (TCF) will not be moved from its present location until a new site has been found…and if a new location cannot be secured, then it will remain at Tafuna.

This is according to testimony by Attorney General Fainu’ulelei Ala’ilima Utu, at a house hearing this week.
.
He said, the administration had planned on relocating the TCF and make room for the present site, for construction of a new hospital. He said, Pago Pago wasn’t the only site that was considered. As listeners would recall, land belonging to the Mageo family was eyed, however, family members objected and that put a stop to the plans.

The Attorney General said, Pago Pago wasn’t the only village that the government had been negotiating with for land to build a new TFC. And he said that up to now, no village has agreed to allow the use of their lands for the correctional facility. He said, if the government is not successful in securing land to relocate the facility to, then it will remain where it is now.
