Veteran dentist appointed to Hospital Board

A new member of the Board of Directors of the Hospital Authority Board is to appear for a confirmation hearing before the Senate Health Committee tomorrow.

He is Afamasaga Dr. Talifa Talifa Jr., who replaces Tamasoalii Dr. Joseph Tufa whose term has expired.

Before his retirement this year, Dr. Talifa began his dental medicine career in 1980 and was Chief Dentist at the Department of Health for 14 years.

Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga said, “Dr. Talifa’s dedication to local health care, commitment to continuing education and extensive public administration experience would be a vital asset to the Board.”

The governor has asked the Senate President and senators to review and confirm Dr. Talifa’s nomination to the Hospital Authority Board.

Only Senate confirmation is required for members of the Hospital Board of Directors.
