
Samoa police have confirmed the death of a 15-year-old boy, after a concrete staircase of an old house he and a sibling were resting under collapsed on them.
Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo said, in his weekly press conference, that the 15-year-old died in the accident and his 16-year-old sibling sustained injuries.
He confirmed earlier, reports that the teenagers of Asau village went out to collect sand and decided to rest under the concrete steps of an old house in the area.
Auapaau said, their investigations indicated the steps collapsing on the boys and burying them, resulting in the death of the 15-year-old.
He said, the Coroner is also satisfied with the Police’s determination of the cause of death of the teenager and has released his body for burial.
The Coroner will call the matter for a formal inquest on December 6th.
