A new school building was dedicated Tuesday, September 6 at Alataua II Elementary School, while ground was broken at the site where a new gymnasium for the same school will be built.

“These new facilities are another arm of the administration’s efforts to ensure our students receive the best,” remarked Governor Lemanu.

“Our students deserve to be in an educational environment in which they can thrive. In these classrooms we have before us our future Governor, our next Congresswoman, and rising artists. It is also important that their facilities are maintained well for future generations. In this gym we will lay the foundation for future professional athletes. We hope to provide more resources to our youth to better equip them in their endeavors.”

The Alataua school building includes five classrooms, onthe 2nd floor, and kitchen, cafeteria, restrooms and offices on the first floor.

Total project cost is $1,639,444 and funded with Department of Education covid funds. Jays Construction headed by Sam Lei Sam was the contractor. The same company is building the new gymnasium for Alataua Ii.

The Manulele Elementary School Gymnasium was contracted to Quality Painting Construction owned by Atuatasi Jerry Seigafo.

Total cost is $1,106,800 and funded under the Office of the Governor’s Capital Improvement Projects.
