The Boil Water Notice (NWN) for villages from Iliili to the Bay Area was supposed to be lifted at the completion this month of a water infiltration plant being constructed in Malaeimi.

Families, schools, businesses and churches in this part of the island haven’t been able to use water from the American Samoa Power Authority for drinking since 2003. That was when the BWN was first put into effect.

When ASPA’s Executive Director Wallon Young appeared before the House Commitee on ASPA, charied by Rep. Filoialii, Fagatogo faipule Vailiuama Steve Leasiolagi asked when the notice will be lifted.

Here’s Young’s reply.
