While the territory was under siege from the sea the new Maximum Allowable Price for fuel went into effect Friday, July 15.  By that evening one gas station  was selling unleaded gas at $5.91 a gallon.

The new wholesale prices reflect a 61 cent increase in the price of a gallon of unleaded gas and kerosene.

The wholesale price of unleaded is $5.09 a gallon while kerosene is $5.28 a gallon.

Land diesel went up 67 cents a gallon to $5.87 cents a gallon wholesale.

Director of the Office of Disaster Assistance and Petroleum Management Lisa Tuatoo says, “We continue to see an increase in crude oil price per barrel and is the main driver for the price hike at the pump.

Tuatoo thanked  the Governor for not hiking  the onshore costs to date, as that has helped keep prices down in the territory.

Onshore costs are fees and taxes added on fuel upon arrival.
