American Samoa’s team at the Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Marianas, presented gifts during the parade of nations at the Games opening ceremony yesterday.
Dressed in yellow and black elei puletasi, golfer Amelie Chen and sprinter Filomenaniosia Iakopo, presented traditional weapons of war to the Governor of CNMI and the President of the Marianas Sports Association.

The gifts were a nifo oti and talavalu.
Marching with the two female athletes was Filomenaniosia’s father, Stanley Iakopo, who’s competing in the men’s sprints.
Also, in CNMI for the Pacific Mini Games is the President of the American Samoa National Olympic Committee.
