Australia’s national carrier, Qantas Airways Limited, has applied to the Samoa Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure for an air license to fly to Samoa from two cities in Australia.

A public notice published in Apia this week, gave notice that the airline was applying for the Air Service License to operate scheduled flights from Australia to Samoa and Samoa to Australia.

the notice also shows that Qantas proposes to launch direct services from Brisbane and Sydney to Apia with additional frequencies and city-pairs to be added.

“Written objections concerning the application may be made to the Ministry of Works Transport and Infrastructure within 14 days from the date of publication of this notice.”

Qantas planes have been servicing the Apia-Australia route on charter to uplift seasonal workers for Australia, since January 2022.

Virgin Australia is also flying the same route and its air service license was recently renewed.
