Eight families in Samoa will finally be able to bury dead relatives, whose bodies have been in the Tupua Tamasese Meaole hospital morgue for some time.

Funerals could not be held because autopsies are needed and there’s been no pathologist in Samoa to perform them.

TV1Samoa quotes Acting Police Commissioner, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, confirming the arrival of a pathologist from Fiji who will be here for two weeks.

He said, one of the bodies has been in the morgue since August 2021 as well as a pregnant mother, who was killed by her husband last December.

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa said, recently, that her government is still trying to secure a resident full time pathologist.
