Samoa has reached 13,145 cases of COVID, both community cases and at the border.

There were 302 new positive cases including a single case off a flight from New Zealand on May 22.

The Ministry of Health report, for the period from May 22-24, shows 5 patients currently in managed isolation at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole hospital.

No new COVID related deaths were reported during the 48 hours in the reporting period.

The tally of COVID fatalities remains at 25.

The ministry, again, reiterated that vaccination remains the best defense against the virus.

It has pleaded with unvaccinated people to get the full doses done including boosters, which are still being administered at all medical facilities around the country.

Samoa remains at State of Emergency Alert Level 2 but with the opening up of most services, including shops and government services.

Restrictions on public gatherings have been removed so there’s no limit on attendance at church services, weddings, funerals and other cultural events.

Schools have also resumed in-person classes on a staggered plan by the Ministry of Education.

Sunday trading is allowed from noon and wearing of masks and social distancing is still enforced at public places.
