
Two bars have appeared on the COVID-19 Task Force’s list of approved businesses as of yesterday. These are Flame and Bowling Alley but they are approved as events venue only. They are not permitted to sell alcohol.
Since some restaurants have been serving alcohol, bar owners have questioned why they’re still not allowed to open when there’s no difference in their business and the restaurants licensed to serve alcohol.
Bars are on the list of prohibited businesses under the emergency declaration for COVID-19, and have been since the first community case in February.
At Monday’s press conference, we asked the Task Force Chairman if it wasn’t easier for all parties concerned to open everything up, since they are allowing some prohibited businesses to re-open, provided they submit a plan that the Task Force approves.
Lt. Governor Talauega Eleasalo Ale said that with every emergency declaration issued, they’ve been gradually allowing businesses and activities to open up.
