The LBJ Hospital has issued a new morgue policy for the handling of corpses of COVID related fatalities.

As explained by Dr. Akapusi Ledua, families will have two options. One is for LBJ to embalm the body of their family member and the other is not to embalm the body.

He said LBJ has revised the morgue policy, so members of the public have an opportunity to view bodies of loved ones before taking them home for funeral services.

Dr. Ledua explained that the process of the body is to be embalmed by hospital morticians.

If the body is not embalmed, family members will only be allowed to view the body on the day that their loved one will be taken from the morgue for burial.

Three family members will be allowed to view the body and they will be given 30 minutes for viewing. There will be no contact with the body.

Dr. Ledua said, the morgue policy was developed with the help of their federal partners, whom he thanked for their assistance.
