Is dining inside restaurants allowed now?

Some restaurants have apparently been allowing customers to eat in despite the emergency declaration for COVID prohibiting dining-in, just take outs.

One restaurant owner visited our station, yesterday, to ask if the rules had changed.

He said, he hadn’t heard anything on the news saying eating-in is allowed.

According to the gentleman, his family has ordered from other restaurants and when he goes to pick up their food, he’s seen people actually dining inside.

He asked the waitresses and they said DOH allowed them, provided they stick to the 10 people limit.

The man said he went to DOH to verify the information. A secretary made a call to her boss and the answer was the same. Eating in restaurants is allowed but up to 10 people only.

We dug out the latest emergency declaration to check, in case we missed the change.

Under Workplace (e) it clearly states: “Restaurants may provide take-out only. Dine-in service is prohibited.”
