Employees of the LBJ Hospital who’ve been toiling on the frontline in response to the COVID pandemic can finally look forward to receiving hazard pay.
A press release from the Acting CEO of LBJ Hospital, Moefaauo William Emmsley, says the American Samoa Medical Center Authority Board “has finally approved COVID-19 Hazard compensation (as modified) for all LBJ employees to take effective immediately.”
“This is merely an interim policy specifically, designed to address the array of “exposure” factors experienced daily by LBJ employees in the performance of their jobs,” said Moefaauo.
As such, the pay increase will be prorated to begin from February 22, 2022 when the “Code Red” threat was announced by Governor Lemanu P. Mauga up to now, and will continue until the current alert level ends.
According to the Acting CEO, at a later time, “LBJ will formulate a long-term and a more enduring hazard pay policy going forward.”
