
The LBJ Hospital is expecting close to 50 medical personnel from the United States to assist in responding to the surge of COVID cases.
The hospital has been working on staffing plans with an agency in Washington State for some time.
Acting Chief of Staff Dr. Akapusi Ledua said the group is planning to arrive in the next few days.

Dr. Ledua acknowledged help from FEMA which provided an 11-member medical team that has been working at the hospital. The hospital has also received equipment and supplies from federal partners and therapeutic treatment from Palau.
FEMA Incident Command Lead Allison Pfaedler also reported that FEMA brought in 27,000 rapid test kits for COVID-19 on Saturday.
