When Cost U Less General Manager Marvin Raps heard customers talking about struggling with paying power bills being out of work and not having a paycheck, he wanted to help.

He called his boss at Cost U Less corporate and requested $1000 to assist with the power bills. His boss immediately said yes.

“I knew it wouldn’t go far, “said Raps “but at least someone would be helped.”

He then added $1000 from his personal account to the fund.

Their $2000 is now going to The GiveLight Initiative, a collaborative effort by several groups to help those affected by the recent Code Red shutdown pay their power bills.

The groups are Esther Generation, Foeoletini Foundation, Agency for Better Living Endeavors and Rotaract Club of Pago Pago

As of yesterday they had raised $8500.

Other donors are KS Mart-$2000, BlueSky-$2000,Tropical Beverages-$1500 and Tropical Pizza and Chicken-$1500.

Donations are being received through a GoFundMe account set up by the groups.
