
Another plane load of passengers arrives this evening from Hawaii.
The Hawaiian Airlines flight left Honolulu International Airport with 277 travelers who are expected to land at 7:30 this evening.
As of Monday, a total of 285 travelers were approved on TALOFAPASS for the flight. The number who actually boarded the flight was confirmed after the final swabs on Wednesday.
According to to DOH, 64 travelers considered themselves as historical cases or those who contracted COVID-19, have recovered from it and are no longer infectious. There are seven dialysis patients on the passenger list,
At the Covid-19 Task Force meeting on Monday, the Chairman, Lt Governor Talauega Eleaslao Ale reminded all those who will be involved with tonight’s flight to be on alert at all times…process the travelers efficiently as much as possible, get them out of the plane , immediately put them into buses and take them to their quarantine sites and into their rooms without any hiccups.
For this flight, Sadies by the Sea will again be used as a quarantine site, along with Tradewinds Hotel and Fatuoaiga Center.
Talauega told health officials, retraining of frontline workers on basic infection control practices such as personal protective equipment (PPE), environmental cleaning and hand hygiene should be ongoing.
Meanwhile the fully vaccinated sector of the population is inching closer to 80%.
As of Feb. 14th, 79.8% or 39, 654 were fully vaccinated while 83.8% OR 41,649 people had recived one shot.
Those who received their booster shots is under 25%. Only 21.6% have received their boosters; the majority of them are in the 61 years and older age group. Health authorities say that with the fast spreading Omicron Variant a booster shot has been shown to prevent severe illness and even death.
DOH is resuming vaccination at schools tomorrow which should boost the coverage for children and youth.
As of February 14th 82.9% of the 12,298 school children in public and private schools are fully vaccinated while 88.8% have received their first doses.
