Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga yesterday sent a proposed flight schedule for Hawaiian Airlines for the period from April to July to airline CEO Mr Peter Ingram.

The schedule has two flights per month and the Governor has submitted the proposal well in advance to assist with “planning future operations” throughout the next quarter of the year.

The planned flights are:

  • Thursday, April 14, 2022
  • Thursday, April 28, 2022
  • Thursday, May 12, 2022
  • Thursday, May 26, 2022
  • Thursday, June 9, 2022
  • Thursday, June 23, 2022
  • Thursday, July 7, 2022
  • Thursday, July 21, 2022

Governor Lemanu said, “I support the work of the GAR and COVID-19 Task Force, and I believe that our strategy has worked with managing our controlled border operations to limit the amount of positive COVID-19 cases entering the Territory,”

He stressed, “The latest variants are causing global surges, which have resulted in countries reapplying certain restrictions.  We must remain vigilant.”

Lemanu also pointed out that since the beginning of our repatriation efforts, vaccination numbers have increased but they are still not quite where we need them to be. I remain committed to reopening our borders, but I want to do it responsibly.”

The governor thanked Hawaiian Airlines.

“I commend Mr. Ingram and the Hawaiian Airlines family for their patience and support during American Samoa’s time of time of need. I look forward to strengthening our partnership as the rest of the Nation looks towards ending this pandemic and once again normalizing travel. I would also like to recognize the COVID-19 Task Force, health care workers and first responders for all their hard work and for pushing forward with the Safe Travels American Samoa initiative.”
