Food prices went up 3.4% in November

In case you didnt notice, you were paying more for basic food items last month.

The monthly basic food index for November prepared by the Statistics Division of the Dept of Commerce shows an increase of 3.4%.

Costs of 24 out of 20 food commodities all showed an increase in price.

The price of chicken legs jumped 4.2%, saimin 9.5%, bottled water 8.7%, butter by 2.9%, spare ribs 1.6%, soda 0.8% and the price of rice also jumped 0.8%.

The basic food items whose prices did not change in November are fish, taro, sausage, banana, canned tuna and bread.
