Competing events last week contributed to a low turnout at the mass vaccination sites for the Western District last week.

The two day total from the vaccinations on Wednesday and Thursday at the school, village and Dept of Health clinics was 1247. There were 827 on Wednesday and 420 on Thursday.

Combined with the totals from the first week, the Covid mass vaccination effort has administered 4797 shots.

At a DOH press cinspference last Friday health officiaks said the issuance of Advanced Child Tax checks Reddit checks and the TAOA Christmas Party contributed to the low turnout.

Still, they were thankful for the response of parents, school administrators, pulenuus and all those involved in the vaccination campaign.

KHJ News asked if the vaccination drive will return to the Western District school sites since there was a low turnout last week.

Dr Francine Amoa, who heads the Covid mass vaccination said they are due to return to all school sites to administer second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. But since schools will be out for the Christmas and New Year holidays, parents should take their children to the clinics to complete their vaccinations.
