Case of MP discharged without conviction

The Driving under the Influence case of Member of Parliament for Aana Alofi 4 electoral constituency Toeolesulusulu Cedric Schuster, charged with driving under the influence, has been discharged without conviction.

The Faatuatua i Le Atua Samoa ua Tasi member had been charged by police after he was found driving following an Independence Day Party on June 1 where alcohol was consumed.

The court had earlier sentenced him to eight weeks rehabilitation with the Salvation Army after he admitted to the DUI charge.

Toeolesulusulu had been sworn in as Minister of Environment for the FAST Government but he voluntarily resigned after he was charged. He remained a member of parliament.

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa never appointed a replacement minister and it’s expected that Toeolesulusulu would be returning to Cabinet now that his case has been discharged without conviction.
