There will be no more daylight saving in Samoa after a decision by the Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi Cabinet of September 15, 2021.

“There will be no activation of the daylight saving policy this year,” said a release from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labor today.

The release also said the public and businesses are therefore advised to continue to follow the normal time as currently in force.

Daylight saving was introduced by the Human Rights Protection Party government in 2010 and clocks were set one hour forward from September to April.

A major complaint about the time change was that young school children were waiting for the bus or walking to school before daylight.
