DBAS says it’s doing what it can within Post Office rules

The owners of the Lumanai Building which houses the Pago Pago Post Office, the Development Bank of American Samoa says it’s working within the confines of access restrictions to get the Post Office cleaned up to meet local health regulations,

President Ruth Matagi Faatili said DBAS cannot interfere with Post office activities and must observe federal law regarding the handling of US mail.

She pointed out that access to the interior of the facility is restricted to federal Post Office employees.

But she points out DBAS has offered to send as much of their staff as needed to help postal staff clean the interior of the Post Office, under the strict supervision of the postmaster, to get the Post Office in compliance with local health regulations.

DBAS maintenance crews have been working with Island Safety and Sanitation company in decontaminating the postal facility which was closed for two and a half days last week.

For today the Post Office hours are:

830am to 330pm for pickup of packages from the back door.

9am to 330pm for Front Window services.
