
The new Miss SOFIAS, Sosaiete o Faafafine i Amerika Samoa, is Aruni Talaifaga. 
She was the judges’ choice to win the crown Saturday night at Lee Auditorium from four other contestants in a pageant like no other with, out-of-the-ordinary outfits, talents, and choreography.
Aruni, a hairdresser by profession, almost swept all the categories: SOFIA’s wear, Swimsuit, Evening Gown, Talent, Miss a Internet and Sunday Wear.
First runner up was Uni Tanielu who won best platform.
2nd runner up was Dessy Muaava who won Miss Personality and Miss Photogenic.
3rd runner up was Ameliah Lafaele who topped the interview category.
Jamie Laureate was fourth runner up.
All of the corporate tables and tickets were sold out before Saturday night.
Judges were BlueSky Custimer Serbice Manager Sherry Sele, Coast Guard Lt Creighton Chong, hotel owner, teacher and conductor, Poe Mageo, Sally Faumuina executive assistant to Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga and Cherie Ripley, a former Miss SOFIAS and former president of the organization.
Proceeds from the pageant will go towards charity.
