Notice anything different in front of Laufou and CBT in Nu’uuli during peak traffic hours?

Since Friday there have been no orange cones, and cars and buses have not faced any restrictions like before. Police officers have just been observing traffic movement.

And this has continued up to today.

Cars have been turning in and pulling out of the Laufou driveway and buses have been dropping off and picking up passengers in front of CBT from 7am -8:30 and 3pm -4:30 pm.

KHJ News asked Acting Commissioner of Public Safety Fo’ifua Foifua Jr whether it’s back to the way it was before former Governor Lolo Moliga issued the special traffic rules for this part of the Nu’uuli highway last year.

Foifua explained they are conducting an experiment on traffic movement during peak traffic hours to determine what works best.  He said from the first day, the traffic has been moving smoothly.

Asked how long the experiment will last, the acting commissioner said it’s indefinite,  and added if traffic moves smoothly as it has been, then there’s no need to change.

So for now turn ins to Laufou and CBT from either direction as well as pulling out from those locations onto the main road are not prohibited.
