Today the Pago Pago Post Office will open from 12 noon till 6 pm.
A special cargo flight brought in 32,000 lbs of mail last night and the staff needs time to sort out all the packages and mail before the Post Office opens.
The special flight was to arrve on Monday however it got delayed to last night according to Post Master Tao Suani.
Packages may be picked up from the front desk and also at the back from noon to 6pm.
However cut off time for the front mail service is 4:30 pm.
The special cargo flight last night took all the outbound mail from the Post Office as well as the CSL postal service that was mailed between Saturday and Tuesday.
The volume of outbound mail has significantly jumped since residents are no longer traveling with their usual gifts or oso of pisupo, tuna, bongo, Arnotts cookies, materials, fine mats and other items that they usually take for relatives and friends off island.
They’re posting them instead.
