Pilots for Samoa Airways are being quarantined at the Department of Health quarantine center in Tafuna. The two pilots replace the ones who have been flying to Manu’a for the last several months who have now returned to Samoa.

But they are being allowed to come and go daily during while in quarantine to fly the Samoa Airways Twin Otter service to Manu’a.

A doctor who did not wish to be named said that since there is no coronavirus in Samoa , the pilots are being treated differently than those who arrived on a medical flight from New Zealand last week, who cannot leave the facility until their 14-day quarantine period is over.

The doctor said the pilots are being checked daily by DOH and they are escorted to and from the quarantine center to the airport.

The first lot of Samoa Airways pilots and mechanics were quarantined at Tradewinds Hotel.

Among those who are currently being quarantined at the DOH facility are the Catholic Bishop, Bishop Peter Brown and contract personnel for Paramount Builders.
